The 2005 contest was held in Kiev, and once again, it was still a mix of rules. The top 10 countries from the year before and the top 10 from the semi final made it through to the grand final. The semi-final was held on Thursday 19th May 2005 with 15 countries not making the grade. These were Austria, Lithuania, Portugal, Monaco, Belarus, Netherlands, Iceland, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Andorra, Bulgaria, Ireland, Slovenia, and Poland.

This year brought some brass instruments from Austria, some weird tutu dress things from Portugal, some glam rock(?) from Norway in the form of Wig Wam, and some traditional dance from Hungary.

Watching the videos, I think Andorra may have been going to the gay men vote with their topless men dancing with fans (yes really). But then who doesn't like a semi naked oily man to look at.

For 2005, I am going to pick Norway as my "Should have got through."
